| 28th of August - MSN Messenger 8.0 to be expected next year? |

The Hotfix.net website has posted a feature list that is expected to debut with version 8.0 of MSN Messenger sometime next year. While he hints that this is speculation and rumour, we are confident that this information is accurate.
While MSN Messenger 7.5 just came out, 8.0 is already being worked on and heading towards beta by the end of the year. A third party source whom is said to be from Microsoft has provided us with this information. Here's a list of possible and rumored features Microsoft is contemplating on going into the IM client:

| Google has just released its own instant messenger (beta version). The IM client contains no filesharing, no emoticons, no text formatting and is attached to a GMAIL account.

Since it's initial release Wave11 has seen 50000+ downloads.
So as can be expected it has a reputation for excelence, its with this update i intend to improve on that.
Wave11 now comes in 16 colours, thats an EXTRA 10 from its last release.
Tabs have returned, and looking extremely sexy if i say so myself.
Custom background have returned thanks to popular demand,
and gleams have also made an appearance for those who hate to miss a Spaces update.
Ofcourse these are only a few of the differences in this update for Wave11.
Many other bugs have been fixed, along with a number of improvements to help Wave11 meet expectations.
It is strongly recommended that any users currently using Wave11 update to this new release.
Also added to the installer is an option to change colours, without the need to uninstall and reinstall.

Six years ago, Microsoft released MSN Messenger. A reaction to the popular messenger ICQ (those were the days).
The newest version (MSN Messenger 7.5) of the most popular messenger is going to be released soon. This new version will only work on Windows Xp or higher. Which means that after windows 95, 98 and NT users, windows 2000 and windows ME users will not longer be able to enjoy the new messenger |

The beta-hunting season has started again! It looks like the messenger 7.5 beta has been leaked! Download it here
This version has animated backgrounds and a redesigned sign in screen. A new feature is voice clip, which allows you to send voice messages.
There is bad news however, this version of MSN Messenger only works with windows XP |

| 1th of May - New messenger build contains mobile messaging |

Messer Larney gave us the chance to take a sneak peek at another internal MSN Messenger 7 BETA, namely build 803. This build introduces the MSN Mobile Messaging feature that utilises SMS technology to transmit short text messages to and from a mobile phone. With this feature, you can communicate with a "Mobile" friend by adding a mobile phone number to an existing contact, or even if his/her mobile phone does not have a MSN subscription or a Messenger client installed.
MSN Mobile Messaging is not a free service. Customers need to purchase credits prior to sending SMS messages from MSN Messenger. Via a secured website, you can buy packages of SMS messages for €3.99 per 25 messages . Credits stored in the Microsoft billing system under your Passport account. Also be aware that the person replying from their mobile phone to your SMS will be charged by their mobile service provider. The internal build was distributed to selected BETA-testers along with a Free Gift Card, which works as a debit card to buy the message credits online.

Virus creators have found a way to get round Microsoft's blocked file extension and .pif filtering precautions. Watch out for messages similar to "Look its you" followed by a link to malignancy.us/.../pictures.php?email=[your e-mail] and whatever you do, do NOT click the link.

The new version of Messenger Plus! -for those who've been cryogenically frozen for the last four years, that's the world's most popular plugin for Messenger- takes care of a couple of bugs with emotion sounds, the quick emoticons panel and startup problems alongside visual and general improvements. The most prominent changes in build 3.51.128 include:
Alternate mode (Plus! > Preferences > General Options > Miscellaneous) for people with startup problems.
The custom emoticon problem for the Quick Icon panel and MSN Messenger 7 has been fixed.
Animated GIFs now look better in the Quick Icons panels.
Sound Pack files (with a plp extension) are now associated to Messenger Plus! in the Windows shell. This means that the sound packs now have a nice Plus! icon attached to them and you can import a sound pack just by double clicking on it.
When sending a custom sound, if the server takes some time to respond and you switch to another window, the focus is restored before the sound is actually sent to your contact (that way, the sound is properly sent).

A /notif command has been added which opens the Notification Configuration window for a given contact.
The /sendfile command has been fixed for the final version of MSN Messenger 7, however, no parameter is allowed for this command anymore (remember that you can use /dropfile too).
Fixed a bug that stopped handwriting to work when a contact sent a message while drawing.
Winks are now properly logged and formatted in the chat window.
